Valentine's Day 2019

 On several occasions over the past year
the Hubs was on the lookout for a
wood working project.  He would
ask if there was anything I needed 
for the house.  Mindful that the 
projects needed to be larger to 
compensate for the vision loss and
not wanting a good thing to pass
me by, I managed to come up with 
a suggestion every time.
It's always fun to see how he 
interprets my vague requests.

I could use a larger cutting board......

I need a spice rack that holds all

my spices and the bottles don't fall over

every time I turn it.......

Annabelle, a Robert Raikes wooden doll,
 and her Holly Hobbie friends would 
love a room I could decorate
in the future........

A shelf by the dining room window
to display some of my seasonal Brown
Bag Cookie molds would be much
appreciated, they range in size from
7 inches to 4 inches tall.......

 
A small keepsake box would be 
very special......

The hubs even carved a little heart 
in the handle of the lift out tray.......

Christmas 2018-Where have I been!

         

Some of you must be wondering 

where I have been for a year.

My New Year's Resolution for 2018

was to spend less time on the "box".

 Somehow, that turned into

no Facebook, no Pinterest and 

no Blog!

The hubs and I both have been busy.

Hitty's room is finished and

she's decorated for Christmas, 

the triple decker has a third floor 

and I am working on a room box

for my Robert Raikes Annabelle 

doll.  The hubs built 2 raised 

garden beds..... that 

kept me busy last summer.  

Our daughter purchased a little 

house that needed remodeling.

The hubs and I spent lots of time

in Tennessee helping to restore it.

return to the blog, no tutorials,

less photos and catch up on 

all the ladies happenings.

No Facebook and no Pinterest.

(I don't miss them at all), but

I have missed all the ladies.

Nativity

Christmas is just around the corner. 

Time to get our a few decorations.

 The nativity set was in need of a new creche,

so I asked the hubs if he had enough barn 

wood scraps left to make one.  He went

 above and beyond my simple request.

He installed a night light to illuminate the inside.

 These paper mache nativity pieces 
are marked U. S. zone Germany, which dates 
them shortly after WWII.

A sweet little angel keeps
watch over baby Jesus.

It's large enough I can add a
few more animals down the road.

The hubs whittled a working latch

 for the animal enclosure gate.

I love the colors, still bright 
after all these years.

A young Shepard boy dressed in pink,
 with stripped socks!

  I think he did a great job....thank you hubs.

Happy Birtday America, 240 years!

Is Christmas Over & Easter Almost Here?

 Is Christmas over?
Is Easter really just around the corner?
 I love Easter!
  It's an important religious holiday, it means
 Spring is near, I get to do a bit of Easter decorating
 and Cadbury chocolate eggs are on the shelves! 

 Over the years our Easter tree has changed, 
 this spring green feather tree is by Bethany 
Lowe, an after Easter sale purchase.  The  
metal fence planter had been a Spring
porch decoration for ages. 
 
 

The ornaments are from the 80's. 
  The Easter bunny used to hide a little figurine
  or ornament in the kids Easter baskets.  We'd add 
a hanger or glue on an egg cap if needed and  
they'd go on the tree.

My mother had several Bantam hens.  
When they began to lay their first eggs they
 were very tiny and fragile.  Only three 
survived the blowing process.  These were
decorated in the Japanese method with hand 
made washi paper.

Some of the ornaments are simple 

wooden eggs covered with mica glass glitter.

It's a special tree to me, full of memories.

 

 Confession time.
We've eaten several bags of Cadbury eggs already
and these photos are from a couple years ago.
I've been busy this winter.   
This is what my dining room really looks like.......

Yea, I'm still using the Christmas placemats

& the wreath is still hanging!

Sometimes in life, it's best not to 
sweat the small stuff!
