This Christmas fairy elf is
a jolly little fellow.
On one end, is the Christmas Krampus.
The kids thought he was horrible &
would always turn the box so he couldn't
be seen.

St. Nicholas was kind, generous and handed
out treats to good children. Krampus was evil,
covered in stinking goat fur and whipped
bad children with sticks and chains.
Translates, Greetings from Krampus.
If you'd been very bad, Krampus would
stuff you in his basket and take you
down to Hades.
Krampus was a popular figure
on Christmas postcards.
Parents in Germany, Austria, Italy and
the Alpine region of Europe frightened
their children into being good by telling
them terrible tales of Krampus.

Krampus is much worse than
the threat of getting a lump
the threat of getting a lump
of coal in your stocking!
I don't like Krampus either, but I did like the story and the images from your wonderful box. The jolly little Christmas fairy elf is doing a great job of making everyone smile; at least he did me! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteGoodness. I have never heard of Krampus. He is a meany for sure. Beautiful illustrations though. I think that might cause me to be good too, if I thought he was going to get me. Love the little fairy elf. he is a cutie and is on duty for Christmas. You always show us the prettiest cards and different things to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteOh my! I've never heard of Christmas Krampus (and never saw any photos of him neither). No wonder your children turned the box! If the story had been true....I would have been one of those kids stuffed in the basket and taken down to Hades. It seemed I was always in trouble.
ReplyDeleteYour elf is very sweet sitting atop the box you decoupaged. You did a lovely job.
I've heard of him--currently reading a work on traditions and myths around Christmas. Interesting, isn't it?
