Nativity

Christmas is just around the corner.
Time to get our a few decorations.
The nativity set was in need of a new creche,
so I asked the hubs if he had enough barn
wood scraps left to make one.  He went
above and beyond my simple request.
He installed a night light to illuminate the inside.
 These paper mache nativity pieces
are marked U. S. zone Germany, which dates
them shortly after WWII.
A sweet little angel keeps
watch over baby Jesus.
It's large enough I can add a
few more animals down the road.

The hubs whittled a working latch
 for the animal enclosure gate.

I love the colors, still bright
after all these years.

A young Shepard boy dressed in pink,
 with stripped socks!

I think he did a great job....thank you hubs.
Enjoy the season!

  1. Sherri, the stable is wonderful. Your man is a genius. The lighting, it looks so real. The radiance comes from the Holy Virgin and Child. Congratulation!!

  5. This is so good to see...love, love Nativity scenes. I have dreamed of making one from paper clay, but... "where go the years, down that tunnel of time..." Your hubs can come on down and build me a life-sized stable just like this one!

    1. Glad you enjoyed the nativity. I've always thought they were so beautiful. The hubs does stay busy in his workshop! He's working on another project for me.......it's so wonderful to see him back on his feet since recovering from his surgery!

  6. I love your Nativity and it is ever so special being designed and made by your husband. I think you have a treasure to set out each Christmas and enjoy. He really paid attention to the details. Your figurines look in wonderful shape and have great color. (I just posted on my Nativity made by my grandfather; and I was surprised to see how much alike they look).

  7. A beautiful nativity scene. We had one a long time ago, when I was a child. It was a lot like yours. Yours is in wonderful condition and your husband always makes great things for you. It would be nice to make a nativity scene from scratch with cloth figures. that would take a lot of work, but imagine what it would look like. I enjoyed seeing yours and hope you will have a wonderful Christmas with your family

  10. Marvelous work on the creche barn! The beams, fences and even the tiny latch show such attention to detail. A perfect place in the hay for your vintage Nativity. (I have the same donkey and cow)
