Petite Penelope & Antique Circus Posters

Meet Penelope, the petite
performing pachyderm.
She's 8 inches tall, hand sewn
and  fully jointed.
Glass German eyes,  fur
 that's extra soft & a hand
sewn costume.
I will be adding her to my
"FOR SALE" page.
Next week I will be doing a couple of
"HOW TO" posts on joints and eyes.

As a child I looked forward to the annual arrival
of the Barnum & Bailey 3 Ring Circus at the Shrine
Mosque in Springfield, MO.  Built in 1920, it was
the largest auditorium west of the Mississippi and
could seat 4,750 people in the main arena.
Just imagine..... all those people and 3 rings of
live entertainment.  Elephants, tigers, bears,
clowns & high wire acts.
Those are wonderful childhood memories!!

  2. This little elephant is so cute. I love her outfit and especially the hat and neck ruff. I think you are in your element creating these fabulous little stuffed toys, but your dolls are always the best too. I enjoyed the circus posters. they are beautiful. I don't think they have the circus any more. We used to go every year when I was growing up too, but I haven't seen one advertised in a long long time. Can't wait to see what you will make next. Love them all.

    1. When our children were little, the mid 80's, a traveling 1 ring circus came to our town. The kids loved it, but I don't know if they still exist.

  6. She is adorable! I love circus posters and art work! You were so lucky to be able to go as a child. I always wanted to go, however, we lived way out in the country and my parents did not take me. Years passed and when I was dating my "now husband" he took me to my very first circus!! LOL
